Welcome
Hello, I’m Katherine Dittmann, a registered dietitian and nutrition therapist specializing in eating disorders and hypermobility conditions.
Maybe you’re here because you need help with your recovery.
Or maybe you’re just tired of worrying about food all the time.
Maybe you’re sick of hating your body.
Or maybe you aren’t sure if it’s bad enough to need help.
Maybe you’re living with a condition like hypermobility or hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) and have realized that nourishing yourself is a lot harder than it could be.
And maybe, just maybe, you want to know how it feels to truly take care of yourself.
To be kind to yourself.
To just give yourself a break now and then.
Whatever the reason, I’m glad you are here!
I am devoted to transforming the way people think about food and their bodies for a full and lasting recovery from eating difficulties and a more caring relationship with themselves.
In short, my job is to make eating easier.
How?
We use dialogue and curious inquiry to uncover the values, unmet needs, motivations, and hidden meanings behind some of the destructive behaviors and attitudes that are keeping you stuck.
But first, you have to be nourished. That means your care and feeding is always our first priority.
Working with me might be a little different.
In addition to nearly 20 years of experience in the field of nutrition for eating disorders, I have special training in embodied approaches to wellness, self-compassion, and practical philosophy.
I also bring lived experience with hypermobility spectrum conditions, which has given me a deep appreciation for how important it is to feel heard, understood, and supported by providers who recognize the full picture.
This means we’ll bring your body into the conversation on one hand and cultivate greater self-understanding on the other as we move through my signature framework, Nutrition as Self-Care.
Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder, chronic dieting, a complex health condition, or simply feeling disconnected from your body’s needs, my work is collaborative, inclusive, weight-neutral, non-diet, and trauma-informed with the intention of creating safety as we build trust and confidence.
The process should feel good more often than scary! And if it doesn’t, we’re doing something wrong.

“I have been in recovery from an eating disorder and a serious mental health condition for decades, however, I honestly don’t feel like until I started working with Katherine, that I have been able to achieve the kind of healing that I believe is sustainable. Katherine works so diligently and compassionately to understand how I became to have the beliefs about my body, my weight, my food choices and my value as a human being, therefore, allowing her to guide me in my journey with great thoughtfulness. Rumination about food and shame and weight and body image are beginning to stop taking over my day-to-day life and I am now able to focus on what matters to me outside myself more. What a relief!!!”

“I truly thought I could never be an intuitive eater. I realized I needed a lot of structure with my food before I could get to know my hunger cues. Working with Katherine helped make intuitive eating safe and not a scary free-for-all.”
Meet Katherine
Hello, I’m Katherine Dittmann, MA, MS, RD, a nutrition therapist, philosophical practitioner, and registered dietitian in San Francisco, California. I work with individuals recovering from eating disorders, navigating mental health challenges, and living with hypermobility conditions, including hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS).
Welcome to the Compassionate Body Center, the online home for my compassion-centered, embodied approach to nutrition therapy for people struggling with eating difficulties.
I created this site to help people help themselves, whether or not they are working directly with a professional. Here you will find a food-positive space designed to help you reconnect with your body and trust your own innate wisdom.
For nearly 20 years, I have helped people develop a more caring relationship with food, their bodies, and themselves. My hope is that you’ll find practical tools, thoughtful reflection, and compassionate support that help make eating — and life — a little easier.
