Compassion-centered nutrition therapy for eating disorders and embodied self-care.

Welcome

Hello, I’m Katherine Dittmann, registered dietitian/ nutritionist and eating disorder specialist.

Maybe you’re here because you need help with your recovery.

Or maybe you’re just tired of worrying about food all the time.

Maybe you’re sick of hating your body.

Or maybe you aren’t sure if it’s bad enough to need help.

And maybe, just maybe, you want to know how it feels to really take care of yourself.

To be kind to yourself.

To just give yourself a break now and then.

Whatever the reason, I’m glad you are here!

I am devoted to transforming the way people think about food and their bodies for a full and lasting recovery from eating difficulties.

In short, my job is to make eating easier.

How?

We use dialogue and curious inquiry to uncover the values, unmet needs, motivations, and hidden meanings behind some of the destructive behaviors and attitudes that are keeping you stuck.

But first, you have to be nourished. That means your care and feeding is always our first priority.

Working with me might be a little different.

Not only do I have over 15 years of experience working in the field of nutrition for eating disorders, I also have special training in embodied approaches to wellness, self-compassion, and practical philosophy.

This means we’ll bring your body into the conversation on one hand and engage your deeper mind on the other as we move through my signature process, Nutrition as Self-Care.

My work is collaborative, inclusive, weight-neutral, non-diet, and trauma-informed with the intention of creating safety as we build trust and confidence.

The process should feel good more often than scary! And if it doesn’t, we’re doing something wrong.

“I have been in recovery from an eating disorder and a serious mental health condition for decades, however, I honestly don’t feel like until I started working with Katherine, that I have been able to achieve the kind of healing that I believe is sustainable. Katherine works so diligently and compassionately to understand how I became to have the beliefs about my body, my weight, my food choices and my value as a human being, therefore, allowing her to guide me in my journey with great thoughtfulness. Rumination about food and shame and weight and body image are beginning to stop taking over my day-to-day life and I am now able to focus on what matters to me outside myself more. What a relief!!!”

"Katherine provides a candid and heartfelt approach rich with wisdom and philosophy.  She has the extraordinary ability to be simultaneously calm, patient, and direct. She cuts through the BS that is the eating disorder with a profound grace and truthfulness that is hard to come by. She intertwines body-oriented approaches, such as mindfulness and intuitive eating, with a HAES and social justice lens. This allowed me to reconnect with my body despite the soup of sexism, racism, ableism, ageism, etc., that diet culture relies upon. I can now happily say that my disordered eating is mostly in remission, and I attribute a huge part of my success to Katherine’s thoughtful guidance. My work with Katherine has been integral to getting my life back. Our journey has allowed me to step into the fullness of my being and live a rich and fulfilling life that starkly contrasts the barren landscape that existed when I first met Katherine. Thank you tremendously, Katherine!"

"Ever search the internet for answers and come back more terrified than informed? Yea… me too. Working with Katherine was the first time I felt like I had a true trusted thought partner on one of the toughest topics for me - eating! Her wisdom and willingness to put a stake in the ground, coupled with her kindness, compassion, patience and humor made Katherine the perfect partner to embark on the scary journey of addressing my eating challenges - after over 30 years. Through our work I rediscovered what it is to listen to my body, take care of myself and my nutrition, and even enjoy eating. I am so grateful to her and our work together - my life, and my health, are forever improved!!"

“I’ve been through anorexia recovery a few times. Every time, the focus was on gaining weight and I never really learned how to just feed myself. With Katherine, the focus was on taking care of myself and my body weight restored on its own. It was still hard, but I feel like I’m at a new place in my recovery”
